6 Daily Habits To Support Balanced Hormones

Posted by Riannon Page on

Hormones play a crucial role in nearly every physiological process in the body, from metabolism and mood regulation to immune function and reproductive health. Adopting daily habits that support hormone balance can significantly impact your quality of life.

These tips can often be overlooked in the busy modern-day life however are essential key components of healthy happy hormones. These habits not only promote hormonal equilibrium but also contribute to improved energy levels, mental clarity, and overall vitality.

Here, we explore six essential daily habits that can help support balanced hormones and enhance overall health.

1. Coffee after food

If you’re a client of Mungbean, you would know all about this tip already! For optimal hormone and blood sugar balance it's best to have your coffee after food. This doesn’t have to be a huge meal, especially if you struggle with a low appetite just ensure you are getting a good source of protein, fibre and healthy fats!

2. Regular meals

Regular meals play a crucial role in supporting hormone balance by providing a steady supply of nutrients that the body needs for optimal function. Consistent meal timing helps regulate insulin levels, which in turn influences other hormones involved in metabolism and energy regulation. Eating balanced meals with a combination of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats supports stable blood sugar levels throughout the day, preventing spikes and crashes that can disrupt hormone production.

3. Quality sleep

Quality sleep is essential for maintaining healthy hormone levels and overall well-being. During sleep, the body undergoes crucial processes that regulate hormone production, including growth hormone, cortisol, insulin, and leptin. Adequate sleep duration and quality support the balance of these hormones, contributing to metabolic regulation, energy balance, and appetite control. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep to support your hormones and overall health!

4. Daily movement

Exercise is important especially if you have a job where you are sitting every day, or your daily routine doesn’t involve much movement. Ensure you are moving your body daily to support your hormones, nervous system and blood sugar. This can be activities such as walking, jogging, yoga, or strength training. A combination between high and low intensity exercises is best for balanced hormones.

5. Stay hydrated – with filtered water!

Be mindful of your water intake. It’s easy to get caught up during the day running after the kids only to realise you’ve only had 1 glass of water and it's late afternoon! Our best tips for drinking more water are to; keep a 1 litre water bottle (stainless steel or glass) on you, fill your water bottle up first thing in the morning to keep you accountable and lastly, do a check in at midday to see how much water you’ve had. Ensure it is quality filtered water (not all water filters are the same), we love the Zazen water filters for removing the nasties and remineralising the water we find it also makes the water taste a lot better!

6. Avoid Endocrine Disruptors

Minimise your exposure to chemicals found in plastics, pesticides, personal products and food products that interfere with hormone function. Opt for organic or spray free produce, choose low tox skin care & makeup and avoid using single use plastic i.e. coffee cups, takeaway containers, water bottles etc.
